The Sherwood Wild West range is  made from round timbers from smaller trees containing heartwood surrounded by sapwood . The timbers are subject to significant cracking and splitting, giving a rustic appearance.

Any affected areas can be rubbed down using coarse sandpaper to restore a smooth, safe surface. You should pay particular attention to the surface immediately after installation is completed, and in the springtime when timber, soaked during the winter months, starts to dry out.
